As a new parent, the urge to buy the best of everything is great. When it comes to back seat mirrors, "the best" usually appear to be the ones will the most bells and whistles: lights, speakers, remote controls, etc. At least that was what it meant to me. It wasn't until over a year later that I tried the BaeLove back seat mirror and realized that I was wrong. This is the best, most practical design for one of these mirrors.

What makes this one so much better? First of all, if you go for one of those other ones, you'll realize very quickly that all the bells and whistles are pure crap. A light? You already have a more convenient dome light in your car. Music? Your car does that too. A remote? A piece of junk that will float around your car unused until you throw it in the garbage or lose it. All this runs on like 5 or 6 AA batteries, too. Second: this model has almost no bezel. I feel like I have my rear windshield view back! "Fancier" models all have a common feature: a giant bezel that obstructs nearly your entire back windshield. This is unsafe and the designers should be ashamed for needlessly obstructing the views of so many new parents while they cart around their newborn children. Finally, this model actually has an articulating ball joint for adjustments. Most other models use some sort of velcro/friction system that seems to require a lot of unnecessary fabric to allow for the viewing angle to be adjusted. The BaeLove works much better: just strap the thing to your headrest with simple clips and aim it wherever you want.

In conclusion: if you're a new parent, do yourself a favor and buy one of these. Don't get one of the name brand gimmicky ones (which seem to be all the big box stores carry) with features you'll never end up using. This is the perfect design for what you're looking for.
